How To Easily Fix Error in HDD External that Always Requests to Be Formatted. (Problem Can Be Solved Without Formatting It)

This time I will share tips on how to easily solve and fix the external hard disk error: keep asking to reformat the external HDD. Of course, you or who are experiencing this kind of incident do not want to take the risk to reformat or erase all data on the hard disk.

Then the only way to return the hard drive so it will not asks to be formatted again is to configure it using CMD Commant Prompt. This way you can run on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or Windows 10. Of course this is not the way to format all the files and folders in the hard drive, but restore the data on it, so the data can be reopened.

Before stepping into the way to fix it, you should need to know first the cause of the hard drive's requests to be reformatted. The cause is carelessly unplug an external hard drive, moreover external HD removed when it is still copying data or running programs on it.

So, here the step by step to fix external hard disk that can not be opened and it's saying to format it:

  1. Connect your external HD to computer, then you need to know where your hard disk location, whether in E, F, G or H.
  2. Open Command Prompt (Admin) app.
  3. Then type the command chkdsk /f E: . *Change the E: with your external HD location
  4. Then press the ENTER key and wait a while. This process will take a little longer, depending on the size of each hard drive.

After the process finished, you might will be able to reopen data in your external Hard drive. Hopefully with that way your external hard drive can be re-used as before. If this option is not successful, please try other ways, such as using recovery tools.
